His sensible wife said...

Judges 13:(AMPC) 21 The Angel of the Lord did not appear again to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the Angel of the Lord.
22 And Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23 But his [sensible] wife said to him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, He would not have received a burnt offering and a cereal offering from our hands, nor have shown us all these things or now have announced such things as these.
24 And the woman [in due time] bore a son and called his name Samson; and the child grew and the Lord blessed him.

When the Lord speaks to us or obviously reveals himself, why do we reason about our conclusions. We must be careful to watch our thinking. The reasoning of Manoah was dangerous amd could have taking them out of obedience allowing some kind of imagination come against them. The Amplified described Manoah's wife as 'sensible.'

If the Lord were pleased to kill us...   So logical and yet if we allow those thoughts come they can thwart our complete simple trust and obedience.

Manoah wanted to see the 'man.' For him perhaps the experience of an encounter from an angel actually distracted him from the message. As he thought about, wondered about, what had just happened he was about to miss the message just delivered.

The angel came to his wife twice. Maybe God knew she would get it right. Simple trust, yes she was amazed and impacted, but she received exactly what she was told.

We should write down and rehearse what God has said. No more or no less.
