MY KEYS

MY KEYS

No one should seek their own good

23,000 of them died

"We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test Christ, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:8-13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The trafficked areas of NZ have these broad white stripes across the road for pedestrians to cross. Theoretically you need not worry about stepping into these paths meant for safety. The pedestrians have the 'right-of-way.' Sometimes there are red and white posts and a light at the top to alert those driving vehicles to prepare them to slow down. If there are no pedestrians the vehicles are not required to stop.

Now this is a win win for pedestrian and traffic flow as long as everyone is alert and complies. But if an unaware foreign driver, or one who is distracted does not notice the crossing it can be very dangerous.

Scripture is 66 books to help us understand there are consequences when the spirit and flesh do not flow together. We can choose to ignore, or disbelieve, or rebel against what is  outlined for all of us to conduct ourselves. Or we can make adjustments to our behavior and find there are guidelines that are good for all of us.

""I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others."
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:23-24‬ ‭
